He obtained his BSc in Chemistry at Royal Holloway College, University of London, and his MSc and PhD in Crystallography at Birkbeck, where he later undertook his postdoctoral work. Janes is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, at Queen Mary University of London.
He is involved in methods development and spends much of his time collecting data at SRCD beamlines in Denmark, France and Germany. He has also recently gained a first class degree in Physics from the Open University.
